Dynamic Simple Shear (3D)
In this apparatus shear is applied to sample in two horizontal direction perpendicular to each other (stress-control or strain-control) by hydraulic jack system in monotonic or cyclic way. In vertical direction keeping strain, volume or normal stiffness constant is possible by helping servo-neumatic system. Low friction in this apparatus provides K0 condition in consolidation level & plane strain in shear applying level. Apparatus specifications are conformed to ASTM D6528. The apparatus software is able to perform 4 phases in all 3 directions that each one can comply with a different stress path in τ-σv. All stages including application of each phase and result reading are conducted automatically by the software and at the end, time, phase number, cycle number, load and displacement in 3 directions with date and test specifications are saved as an Excel file in apparatus memory. Therefore, user errors are eliminated by this method. This apparatus can be promoted and equipped to measure wave velocity, and perform Interface Test.
