Bender Element System
Description
Elastic stiffness along with shear modulus and damping ratio is an issue of significance to substantial structures such as petroleum reservoirs, distillation towers, large dams, machine foundations and etc. Earthquake stability analysis for soil-structures with any sort interaction in between, undoubtedly necessitates an accurate estimation of the aforesaid parameters including effective factors. Empirical or semi-empirical correlations, on the other hand, lead to proper estimation for shear modulus and damping ratio of various strain amplitudes involving the maximum dynamic shear stiffness, also known as G0. The maximum shear and elasticity moduli shall be obtained by measuring the mechanical wave velocity via wave propagation equation. Applying non-destructive test method, the small strain apparatus provides rather precise values for shear and pressure wave velocity so as to evaluate the dynamic parameters and the effective factors: confining pressure, void ratio and saturation degree, to name a few.
